In line with democratic principles, the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), OAU held its election on Wednesday, 19th of June, 2025, where NAPSSites came out in their number to exercise their voting rights. Candidates with the most votes emerged as winners in various offices. Although the results of the election were officially announced as far back as Saturday, 21st of June 2025, the elected executives and honorables are yet to be sworn in.
After the NAPSS election, which was peacefully and credibly conducted, it is expected that the candidates who emerged as winners, have power officially handed over to them in a swearing-in ceremony. The swearing-in should have taken place immediately after examinations, but so far, it has yet been done. What exactly is the reason for the delay, and how is it being addressed?
The staff advisers of the department of Political Science have a university-given obligation to preside over and observe activities of the association, which also include the swearing-in ceremony. However, they seem not to have been informed by the electoral body, hence the delay. After speaking with one of the newly elected executives, the information obtained was that, although no date has been fixed yet, the situation is currently being addressed, and the swearing-in ceremony would take place very soon. Also, despite the delay in the official swearing-in, the elected executives have all started working diligently on the promised programs of their manifesto and administrative duties.
Furthermore, it is important to note that all NAPSSites should remain calm and desist from spreading or initiating any form of controversy as the newly elected executives are very much active in their duties, and they are open to suggestions and feedback to ensure the general good of NAPSS.
Work has commenced, and progress is being made. In due time, the swearing-in would take place, and all the newly elected executives and honorables would officially assume their various offices.
